Abstract
The article presents the methods of formation and processing of queries to improve the efficiency of information retrieval in the library and archival information resources. Custom queries generated in natural language are divided into 3 groups: clear queries, verbal (descriptive) queries and fuzzy queries. The methods of querying using structured query language (SQL) standard for relational databases are suggested. For processing queries for intelligent information retrieval the theory of fuzzy sets is used.
