Utilización del Moodle como un Entorno Personal de Aprendizaje en contexto de educación superior: una revisión de literatura

Abstract
Within the topic Institutional and Personal Learning Environment (IPLE), this work analyzes the concept “virtual learning environment” to answer the question: can a Moodle be applied as a virtual learning environment in higher education? In order to answer this question, the authors have conducted observations, collected informative data, done a comprehensive reading of different texts, and elaborated mind maps to organize the information. A review of articles contained in indexed journals and digital libraries was also conducted. In addition, the authors also compared and contrasted several virtual learning environments to apply the Moodle approach in them. As a result of this investigation, the authors propose a substantial theory of Moodle which involves the improvement of the graphic interface design, the distribution of information, visibility, and the organization of the contents of this environment, accompanied by the use of social networks. Finally, this work infers that it is recommendable to apply an IPLE in higher education institutions for its free-of-charge condition, its set of tools, and the degree of personal interaction that these virtual environments promote (pedagogical perspective + technological perspective).
