THE POLYSEMY OF THE VERB "TO ABSORB / ABSORB": AND OBJECT-SUBJECT RELATIONS

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of linking semantic aktant OBJECT and verb semantics in modern Russian proposal. It is shown that the position of the OBJECT with different lexical-semantic variants of the verb to absorb / to absorb AGENS (persons, supernatural beings, animals and plants) are represented by nouns of certain thematic classes. It is concluded that depending on the thematic class name, OBJECT fill valence, can change not only lexical-semantic meaning of the verb to absorb / to absorb, but in some cases the semantic role of the participant (AGENT, INTERMEDIARY, TRANSITIVE, CAUSATOR) the situation presented in the Subjective sphere of the verb. The obtained results can find application in the practice of compiling dictionaries, and also of interest for the theory and practice of translation.
