Abstract
The continuous rise in global prices of crude oil, increasing threat to environment due to exhaust emissions, the problem of global warming and the threat of supply fuel oil instabilities have adversely impacted the developing countries, more so to the petroleum importing countries like India. From the point of view of long term energy security, it is necessary to develop alternative fuels with properties comparable to petroleum based fuels. Ethanol is one of source to fulfill growing demand of energy. Maize is major source of ethanol due to its higher starch content in seed and kernel. Ethanol is a renewable alcohol-based fuel that can be produced from starches, sugars, and cellulosic biomass.. Present study of our research focus upon enzymatic hydrolysis of maize, thus found energy efficient result for synthesis of ethanol.
