Abstract

The development and severity of hyperbilirubinemia depends on the course of pregnancy and factors affecting it. Risk factors for development of hyperbilirubinemia in neonates include complications during pregnancy and burdened obstetric history (miscarriages, obesity, gestosis, somatic and infectious diseases), morphofunctional immaturity of newborn (prematurity, intrauterine growth retardation, chronic intrauterine fetal hypoxia) and disease in the neonatal period.
