Guidelines for Academic Administration of Secondary Schools under office of the Secondary Educational Service Area 19

Abstract

The present research aimed at 1) studyingthe state of academic administration of the secondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office19; 2) studying the academic administration of the 3 master schools; and 3) studying the guidelines forthe academic administration of the secondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19.The research was carried out in 3 phases. Phase 1 was the study of theacademic administration of the secondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19. The population of the study was2,115 secondary school administrators and teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19. The samples of the study were 104 secondary school administrators and teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19 using Krejcie and Morgan’s table.In phase 2, the study focused on the academic administration of the 3 master schools, namely BunyawatWitthayalai School, Udonpittayanukoon School, and LoeiPittayakom School. The population and samples were chosen using the purposive sampling technique. Phase 3, the focus group discussion process was used to aggregate theacademic administration guidelines ofthesecondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19.The research instruments were the interview and questionnaire with the overall mean of 4.63 and reliability of 0.92. The statistics used for data analysis were mean and standard deviation. The results of the research were as follows: 1) For the state of academic administration of the secondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19,it was found that the overall state of academic administration of the secondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19 was at high level. The aspects that gained the highest means were the academic planning and academic supervision. The aspect that gained lower mean from those two was the learning evaluation and assessment process. The aspect that gained the lowest mean was the learning and teachingmedia management. 2) The result of the study of the 3 master schools’ academic administrationshowed thatthe overall state of the academic administration was at high level. The aspectsgaining the highest to lowest means were the academic planning, learning and teaching management, and educational staff and teacher development, respectively. 3) For the study of the guidelines for academic administration of the secondary schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 19, it was found that the aspects needed for the academic development most werecollecting all types of data and local wisdom in order to analyze for the academic strengths and weaknesses, allowing all sections to take part in the curriculumadministration, improving the internal educational supervision, and assessing learning accordingly to the realistic conditions.The other aspects that needed for the development were specifying the academic visions, supervision, monitoring, following up the curriculum assessment, reviewing the supervising results in order to plan and improve learning management, and specifying the evaluation and assessment rules and regulations.
