ENVIROMENTAL AND GENETIC ASPETS OF BIRTH WEIGHT IN NATIVE CATTLE OF COLOMBIA

Abstract
Between 1980 and 2001, data from 1877 birth weights from native cattle of Colombia (Romosinuano), born 1980 ? 2001, were analyzed (P < 0,0001). The average birth weight of males and females were 31,46 kg and 29,80 kg, respectively . The Estimate heritably from direct and maternal effects was: 0,17 ± 0,06 and 0,087 ± 0,03, respectively.
