Abstract
The article defines the notions of causative category and voice category in English and their correlation in text. Despite the fact that some researches consider these categories valent, there is a significant difference between them; semantic and functional differences do not equate causative category with voice ? they are separate linguistic categories. The author analyses these categories on the examples of English master dissertations.
