Abstract

Purpose ? to characterize sorption-drainage treatment of purulent wounds. Materials and methods. We have analyzed 349 literature sources, of which 208 are foreign ones. The literature review includes 50 sources written by most significant domestic as well as foreign authors. Conclusions. Carbon fiber sorbents (CFS) are one of the brightest representatives of contemporary directions of purulent surgery development ? vulnerosorption. The indications for the use of these substances are the first phase of wound healing process. Most practicing surgeons prefer a gauze tampon or a "cigar" tampon as the most simple though not very effective methods of passive drainage. In active drainage various combinations of tubes are used. Existing advantages of CFS dictate conditions for further study of their adsorption properties and the development on their base of new, more efficient sorption-drainage devices.
