Abstract
Aim of study: to estimate descriptiveness of enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay (ELISA) in diagnosis of HCV-infection. Methods. The optical density (OD) of total antibodies to HCV in the blood serum of 250 blood serum samples of anti− HCV−positive patients who did not receive antiviral therapy against HCV. All patients were tested on RNA HCV by PCR. Results are presented as mean ± SD.Results. The OD 2,6 and more are associated with replicative stage of HCV-infection (RNA+), OD 0,7 and less is parameter for exclusion of replicative stage of HCV-infection (RNA-). Conclusions. Parameter of serum OD may be used like additional criteria for diagnosis of HCV-infection especially in setting with limited recourses for PCR.
