INTRODUCTION OF TRANSJUGULAR INTRAHEPATIC PORTOSYSTEMIC SHUNT

The article analyzes the results of the first in the Grodno transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) in patients with liver cirrhosis complicated by portal hypertension, and refractory ascites. Brief review of the literature is also discussed. TIPS in patients with intrahepatic form of portal hypertension, associated with esophageal varices and resistant to conservative therapy ascites, is a high-tech, minimally invasive, easily portable and highly effective operation.
