Abstract
Today, there are many countries devoted to adopting several strategies to protect the environment. In Taiwan, one of the main strategies is to reduce automobile exhaust and industrial emissions. There is about 10% of emission from the scooters in Taiwan. Thus, Taiwan’s government encourages people to buy electric scooters rather than buy the typical gas scooters. However, the main difficulty of promotion for electric scooters is lack of charging stations. In this paper, we study the location problem for electric scooters. An immune based evolutionary algorithm is applied for solving the electric scooter location problem. Examples in Taichung city, Taiwan, are investigated. Numerical results of various number of electric scooter charging stations are reported and discussed. Additionally, numerical results show that the applied algorithm can effectively solve the considered problem.
