ENTERPRISES AS MARKET INVESTORS IN BIO-ECONOMIC CONDITIONS

Abstract
Background. The article deals with the activities of enterprises in the bioeconomy. The issues of their investment and economic activity in this relatively new sector are considered. Polish companies from Warmia and Mazury voivodship were analysed. Review of recent scientific sources indicates that in recent years interest in the issues of bio-economy has greatly increased. This applies to both academic and commercial sphere. However, there is no single answer to the question what is the bioeconomy. The views in this category differ depending on who expresses them: theoretics or practics. There is one dominated view in the literature devoted to this subject according to which the development of bio-economy can be divided into several stages. The transition from one to the other requires from participants of these relations corresponding investment costs. Therefore the aim of the study is to analyze the investment acivity of Polish companies in the bio-economy. The results of research. Phase of bioeconomy development of the companies participating in the study was found. It was also possible to find out by what motives they were guided during the conduct of its activities in the field of bioeconomy. The analysis of the main barriers that hinder progres of Polish entrepreneurs in biosphere was conducted. The study also focused on the structure of the investment operations of companies in the field of bioeconomy and sources of their funding. Appropriate attention was also devoted to the question of innovation financing in bioeconomy by means of EU funds. Conclusionas. Based on the results of research it can be stated that despite the existing difficulties there are pretty good conditions for the development of bioeconomy in Warmia and Mazury voivodship. However, in order to achieve the significant results the activities of members of business, law, finance, science, higher education, knowledge transfer and innovation, and the protection of the environment and public health should be coordinated in order to improve the investment attractiveness of the bioindustry.
