Abstract
Body condition and body weight at birth have a direct relation, as with postpartum reproductive behavior as with post partum weight change. Being in mind that cows with extreme body condition score at birth, as too low <3.0 as too high >4.0 in a 1-5 scale, showed less reproductive behavior, in relation to the cyclical luteal ovarian activity, silent estrus and post partum conception rate. In the same way than females who show low body condition at birth, they have a few postpartum weight losses when nutrition is suitable in this period, bearing in mind that fat cows at the moment of birth, postpartum weight losses are high. When feeding is suitable, body reserves decrease at the beginning of the lactation, and increase at the middle and at the end of this one. Undernourished cows at birth move less postpartum body fat, decreasing fat in milk, without effects in the production, in protein content and in dry matter consuption.
