Abstract
In this study, sense of texture was evaluated with respect to an actual object and its image, with the aim of demonstrating the cause of the gap between them. Furthermore, a verification experiment was conducted to investigate appropriate environmental design for the reproduction of sense of texture though image information. The results showed follows, 1)With respect to image information, basic factors such as color and shape were demonstrated to have an effect on the sense of texture produced. 2) An experiment comparing actual objects with their images demonstrated the negative impact of an object that was not actually smooth being perceived to be smooth through display as an image.
