Abstract
Random survey was conducted in six administrative blocks of Jorhat sub-division of Jorhat district, Assam to determine the association of plant parasitic nematodes with ornamental plants. A total of 129 soil and root samples were collected from 31 ornamental plants from six blocks of Jorhat sub-division. Ten species of plant parasitic nematodes belonging to ten genera were found to be associated with ornamental plants of Jorhat sub-division. Species recorded were Helicotylenchus dihystera, Tylenchorhynchus leviterminalis, Cephalenchus leptus, Rotylenchulus reniformis, Macroposthonia onoensis, Xiphinema radicicola, Hoplolaimus indicus, Meloidogyne incognita, Hemicriconemoides mangiferae and Hemicycliophora sp. H. dihystera was frequently encountered plant parasitic nematode with the highest frequency. R. reniformis was first in absolute density and prominence value.
