Raj Vijay Mustard-1 : An early maturing variety of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss)

Abstract
Developed RVM-1 (JMT 04-3) showed its superiority over checks in three years testing in AVT trials by 7.00%, 23.55% and 33.92%; whereas, the seed yield testing on farmers field over five years (2010-15) indicated that maximum increase was obtained 35.48% (2100 kg/h) over check JT-1 (1550 kg/h) in 2011-12. Mean oil yield indicated that RVM-1 had given 587 (kg/h) against checks JD-6 (430 kg/h), PT-303 (459 kg/h) and TL-15 (465 kg/h) which was an increase of 36.5%, 27.9% and 26.2%, respectively. RVM-1 matures in 108 days; when, it was strictly sown in the first or second week of September. It is suitable for rain-fed as well as irrigated conditions. It was more responsive to 75% recommended dose of fertilizer and gave 52.9, 50.2% and 8.3% more seed yield over TL-15, PT-303 and JD-6, respectively. Its plant height ranged between 141 ? 153 cm and the yield potential was 1389 - 2019 (kg/h), no of siliqua per plant varied from 146 - 432 having dark brown to reddish brown seed colour, whose test weight ranged between 2.8 ? 3.9 (g) and have 40.2 ? 43.1% oil in it. RVM-1 showed resistance to moderate resistance to Alternaria blight at 75, 90/100 DAS under natural condition and escaped from the incidence of other diseases because it matures before the occurrence of diseases.
