TANDEM KIDNEY- A CASE REPORT

A 39 yrs old, gentleman presented with Pain right lower abdomen on and off for the past 3 yrs. Intermittent, dull aching pain without any urinary symptoms. No significant past history .Examination revealed a mass of 8x6cm palpable in umbilical and hypogastric region, soft ,not tender.On investigation-RFTnormal.USG- showed left renal fossa empty left kidney fused to lower pole of rt. Kidney,with transverse lie in midline below umbilicus with dilated pelvic calyceal system and prominent pelvis. CECT - ABD-showed crossed fused ectopia of left kidney(L-SHAPED,TANDEM)with pelvi ureteric junction obstruction.laparotomy confirmed the findings and Anderson -Hynes dismembered pyeloplasty done with 5 Fr DJ stent. Postop period uneventful.This case is presented because of rare presentation of LSHAPED crossed fused ectopia with PUJ obstruction.
