Extraction of Product Names for Constructing a Database of Souvenir Information

Travelers are often bothered with choosing good souvenirs when they travel. Information about souvenirs that travelers can purchase only at the particular location or area exists on the Q&A sites, blog articles etc. However, travelers cannot obtain such information easily, because there are no organized information sources, Web sites and services. We propose a system for presenting useful souvenir information that travelers can purchase only at the particular location or area, in order to support for selection of suitable souvenirs. As the first step before constructing the proposed system, we collect souvenir information that travelers can purchase only at the particular location or area, from the Web, and organize the information as a database of souvenir information. For example, product names, prices, company or shop names, reputation, their address, etc. are stored in the database. In this paper, we propose a method to extract names of products for constructing the database of souvenir information. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated by experiments.
