THE MEASURES ON MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH CARE IN UZBEKISTAN AND THEIR RESULTS

The article deals with the development of maternal and child health care system for the period of independence of Uzbekistan (from 1991 to the present). The issues of colonial policy, carried out on the territory of the country by the former soviet power, which turned Uzbekistan into the raw material base of cotton, are considered. The causes of increased death rate among the population and children are noted. The review of formation of the new health care system is made, the statistical data are presented, and the reforms in this sphere are evaluated positively. It is noted that Uzbekistan is admitted as the country having killed poliomyelitis virus, the number of infectious diseases reduced significantly (viral serum hepatitis, diphtheria). The issues of demographic increase of population and female reproductive health promotion are considered.
