Abstract

This article is devoted to diagnostic issues with ultrasonography and the impact of a traumatic factor on the tissue of the anterior transverse ligament of the carpus in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in the Republic of Moldova. It was noted that in patients with CTS a lower sensitivity and specificity of cross-sectional area (CSA) and flattening ratio (FR) of the median nerve is at the level of the pisiform bone, while the sonographic index of the median nerve is at the wrist level (SIMNC). When the trauma factors occur, the more often histological changes appear in the anterior transverse ligament of the carpus, which indicates surgical intervention in rhenium stages of CTS.
