The effect of herbal medicines on lipid metabolism and lipid peroxidation in experimental hyperlipidemia

The article compares the antiatherosclerotic effects of medicinal plants. They were, first of all, associated with the total effect of biologically active substances (flavonoids, pectins, plant sterols and others). Under the conditions of the experiment, it has been established that herbal preparations have hypocholesterolemic, hypotriglyceridemic, hypo-β-lipoproteinemic, antiatheromatous and antioxidant effects, not inferior to standard drugs nicotinic acid and α-tocopherol acetate.
