Formation of communicative and discursive culture of future border guard officers has been evaluated by three levels of display, each characterized by certain content and orientation in the components of communicative and discursive culture. The following criteria for assessing the levels of communicative and discursive culture formation have been determined: communicative, personal psychological qualities, communicative and discursive skills. Communicative criterion describes formation of professional communication skills, sufficient proficiency both in the English language and in the languages of the neighboring countries, knowledge of which is required in the line of duty; it also characterizes the formation of communication skills, making it possible to evaluate the ability of communicators' behavioral responses interpretation as well as their mastery of professional communication technologies. The criterion of personal psychological qualities implies a system of future border guards officers' internal capabilities and their ability to realize them. This component includes a number of elements, such as: professional orientation; future border guard officer's understanding of the significance of communicative and discursive culture as an important factor in their future service activity; axiological attitude to formation of communicative and discursive culture. The criterion of communicative and discursive skills relates to the ability of utilizing acquired background knowledge in practice. This criterion describes the operational and pragmatic component and forms communicative and discursive culture in the course of learning the subject of "Border control", namely the part of the course that is directly related to the border control procedures. Their display levels are defined as high, medium and low. High level is characterized by possessing the knowledge about the essence, content and structure of communicative and discursive culture; communication skills, background knowledge and abilities formed on their basis. Communicative and discursive culture becomes a persistent feature of a person at the high level of development, based on favorable natural potential, needs, motivation for career growth, self-development and self-improvement. Medium level is characterized by the desire to comprehend more than expressed in spoken words; clear and correct understanding of the content of communicative and discursive culture; friendly style of communication both with colleagues and people who cross the border. Low level is connected with difficulty in establishing contact with travellers, inability to understand communicative and discursive culture, absence of communicative and discursive culture skills and autocratic style of communication.
