Abstract
The article highlights the stages of formation and the origin of the main German legal document called Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch. Its key word elements give us the possibility to penetrate into the oldest early-medieval traditions through the Pandektistik, the natural law, usus modernus pandectarum, the medieval land rights and civic rights of the legal books.
