Abstract

Orientation assessment is one of the key components of a comprehensive geriatric health survey of the elderly to recognize the degree of frailty. Due to the fact that the most vulnerable to changes at a later age is the orientation in time the article is devoted to the classifications of violations of orientation in time to minimize the risks of cognitive impairment in a geriatric patient. A model of the spectrum of orientation disturbances in time G is presented. Berrios according to which the disorders in this ability occur due to the inability of the patient to monitor changes in the external reference frame; violations in the process of updating the indicative information in the internal reference frame of the person; changes in the patient's response to the revealed misalignment between the external and internal reference systems. It is shown that changes in orientation across time are not independent disease, and develops in different kinds of soil. Changes in the orientation in time always have a direct reason for its development (trigger risk factors) and maintenance (supporting factors). Triggers of development of disorientation in time in old age are presented. Specific clinical examples describes the specifics of the violations of orientation in time bound and unbound self-concept of the elderly patient.
