Abstract

Since ancient times, scientists are interested in problems of mental disorders and wrongful behavior. This topic is relevant in our days. There are different views on the possibility of mentally ill people to commit socially dangerous acts, on the role of social factors in the emergence of criminal behavior in persons with a mental diagnosis. The purpose of this work is to study the features of the value-motivated sphere and self-awareness of schizophrenic patients who have committed socially dangerous acts. Analysis of scientific research shows that value orientations are a psychological characteristic of a mature person and express a qualitative attitude of a person to society, and also influence the motivation of his behavior, having a significant impact on activities. During the research of the human value sphere, it is necessary to take into account the existing values of a person and his attitude to various topics on which he did not fix his attention before. The results of the study show that: motivation for success prevails in patients; the needs for self-expression, material and social needs dominate in patients, leading terminal values are health, love, happy family, financial life and freedom; leading instrumental values of patients are honesty, accuracy, well-being, jocundity; a greater number of positive values on the «domination» and «friendliness» scales both in the real I and in the ideal I is characteristic of patients with schizophrenia. Also, the article briefly describes the correction program developed by us for schizophrenic patients who have committed socially dangerous acts.
