Abstract

The paper features the first publication of the collection of medieval archaeological findings discovered at Grokhan settlement from the funds of the Museum of History and Culture of the Middle Kama Region (Sarapul). The author traces the history of studying the site (А.А. Spitsyn, F.D. Nefedov, A.V. Zbrueva, exploration activities). The collection studied by the author was compiled in the pre-revolutionary period by one of the founders of Sarapul local museum and Head of the Local town administration Mikhail Semyonovich Tyunin, who granted the collection to museum funds. The findings include medieval household and utility items: fragments of copper and bronze dishware, an iron pan gripper, a fragment of an old Russian ceramic pot, iron articles (an anvil, a quiver hook, an axe wearing bracket and a cresset), a fragment of an iron lock with a copper coating, a bimetallic overlay from a horse harness, a fragment of a bone handle, and a stone sharpener. The author makes a preliminary conclusion that the analyzed medieval artefacts reflect the multi-ethnicity of the material culture of the inhabitants of the sites - the Bolgars, the Slavs, and the Permian Finns.
