The monitoring of public areas with video cameras is becoming increasingly important due to the security concern around the world. Real-time surveillance of people and their activities in urban environments is becoming increasingly important in the context of public safety. The advance of wireless technologies has expanded the scope and capabilities of camera networks, which now can be used as intelligent platforms to provide public safety.
