The article presents a methodological sequence of work performed on stage at the State School St. Vincent de Paul, in four rooms 5th fifth grade in 2006 (two thousand and six). The goals apply the use of Problem Solving as teaching methodology, of which the activities were not ready and finished, but built on knowledge through experimentation. We used qualitative research LUDKE (1986) in a report of an experience where you described the contact directly and significantly environment. Discussion of the results took place before the knowledge of reality and from there situations were presented problems that arouse curiosity and motivation of the students since up to that time mathematics was seen as a discipline capable of causing disgust, in application of formulas meaningless. the students started to build knowledge through the "Troubleshooting involving everyday situations. And even if not completely dominating the four operations, students achieved significant results during the course of the activities
