Abstract

In the paper, rolling conditions in a complex including driving and non-driven stands are analyzed. It is shown that the total rolling moment in this complex is less compared to conventional rolling with a strip tension. The influence of the coefficient of friction in driving cages and in the adjacent stand with idler rolls on the total moment is studied, and also the stability of the metal in contact with rolls during rolling is estimated. It was shown that from the point of view of reducing energy consumption, rolling in a complex including an inboard cage is effective.
