Human Informational Needs аnd the Development of Modern Library Activities

Today’ realities dictate the need for a new thinking that would correspond to the atmosphere of the evolutionary processes of the information society, person self-awareness in this society, understanding of tasks and responsibilities entrusted to this society by its members. These realities should also be based on new organizational, legal and technical-technological solutions related to the information revolution that has occurred in recent decades, with the development of electronic information technologies, their introduction into all spheres of society, including the library system. The processes of informatization of Ukrainian society life, the intensification of information exchanges, significant changes in the consciousness of society members, which today, to a large extent, corresponds to the signs of information, are important factors in the renewal of modern library activities. These problems are connected primarily with the need to update the methods of managing the information resource and developing techniques for dynamic activities in the information space, organizing effective use of library funds. In this regard, the improvement of activities of library and archival institutions that are part of the system of structures, which together constitute the informational basis of national development, is influenced by two main factors. One of them is connected with manifestation of patterns of information society development, theoretical and methodological developings of this topic, studying the best foreign experience in the development of library activities. Another factor relates to the study of domestic reader environment and users of electronic resources, which are the most socially active members of the society. In this regard, it is important to define and forecast the characteristics of the future user, which, in turn, necessitates the appropriate preparation of library technologies and library personnel.
