Use of Social Networks as a Platform for Scientific Communication by Academic Libraries (on the Example of the Web Pages of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine on Facebook)

The article deals with the use of social networks as a platform for scientific communication by academic libraries. It is emphasized that when scientific activity must correspond to new demands of the society in the process of its transformation, a role of scientific communication significantly increases. One of the main participants of scientific communication in Ukraine is academic scientific libraries. Importance of social networks as an optimal means for interactive communication with the library’s target audience in modern Ukrainian realities is noted.The article considers experience of using the social network Facebook by V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine as a tool to maintain scientific communication, as an important network channel for dissemination of scientific information, a means of effective interaction with potential consumers of resources and services.
