Abstract

Hemangiomas of the abdominal cavity are rare. Hemangiomas of the small intestine are more common, less common are hemangiomas of the large intestine, stomach, liver, spleen. Bleedings into the lumen of the intestinal tube and the free abdominal cavity are the main symptoms of hemangiomas of the abdominal organs. Diagnosis remains to be difficult. The final diagnosis in most children is made by laparoscopy and laparotomy. Treatment of hemangiomas of the abdominal organs is surgical. Twenty-six children with hemangiomas of the abdominal organs were observed. 18 Children had hemangiomas of the small intestine, 3 – of large intestine, 2 – of stomach, 2 – of liver and 1 child – hemangioma of spleen. The clinical picture in all children was characterized by such symptoms as hemorrhages, pain in the abdomen, loss of body mass, vomiting with admixture of blood. In the work, history, examination, gastroscopy, rectoscopy, laparoscopy. The final diagnosis was made only intraoperatively. Аll 26 сhildren with hemangiomas of the abdominal cavity organs were operated on: in 23 children a gut resection together with a hemangioma was performed, in 1 child with a hemangioma of the left lobe of the liver the left lobe resection was performed, in 1 with a hemangioma of the spleen splenectomy was performed. While in hemangiomas of the stomach the main symptoms was vomiting blood, surgeons faced certain difficulties in identification of the source of bleeding in children with hemangiomas of the small intestine. Bleeding from bile papilla may be present both in hemangioma and in case of a deep trauma of the liver. Burst of intrahepatic hemangiomas into the bile ducts is accompanied by hemobilia syndrome characterized by hepatic colic, hemorrhage into the intestine, and jaundice.
