Abstract

The article outlines the practical method of calculating the efficiency of the implementation of the Japanese philosophy “Kaizen” based on an indicator of the increase of equipment effectiveness OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness). The authors lay stress on the importance of creating a unified input data accounting system for the main operations of the enterprise for the calculation of indicators of the effectiveness of equipment usage. The main features of “Kaizen” technology of production organization are determined and taken into account. Domestic scientists usually perform an analysis of the effectiveness of equipment usage with the help of indicators of dynamics and structure of the fixed assets, technical conditions and fixed assets movements and sufficiency analysis of fixed assets. The article summarizes the equipment performance for calculation of OEE. The overall efficiency of equipment OEE is considered, and the method of calculating the OEE indicator is analyzed in the article. The key factors (input data) for calculation of the equipment effectiveness and determination of the economic effect are defined. An input data accounting chart for calculation of overall equipment effectiveness OEE is created. The process of keeping the log of the input data accounting through data collection automation (software development) is described. Normative resulting values of OEE indicator are determined. It is specified that OEE is the single best metric for identifying losses, benchmarking progress, and improving the productivity of manufacturing equipment (i.e., eliminating waste). Evaluation of manufacturing equipment performance has been critical in production-related functions such as planning, scheduling, and maintenance. Nevertheless, low accuracy of performance measurements can mislead decision makers. In this study, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is considered as a performance indicator of manufacturing equipment. The primary input data necessary to determine the economic effect of implementing the Kaizen technology is determined and specified. The main requirement OEE indicator has to meet to achieve the economic demand is defined.
