On Relations of Islam and Science: Refutation of Ahun Ataulla Bayazitov

Ideas and claims of Ernest Renan at one of his conferences called “Islam and Science”, where he addressed Islam as contradicting to science and thus opposing development, drew rapid responses from many scholars from around the Islamic world. Intellectuals like Jamaluddin Afghani, Namık Kemal, Ali Ferruh, Amir Ali, Ras-hid Rida, Celal Nuri İleri and Ahun Ataulla Bayazitov are the most renowned scholars who authored several refutations to disproof Renan's arguments. In this article, the refutation of the former Imam of St. Petersburg Mosque, Ahun Bayazitov, has been studi-ed and its characteristic features has been evaluated.
