MAINTENANCE OF RAILWAY TRACKS FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING SPEED

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the need for a strategic consideration of railway tracks maintenance. It is aimed at providing a considerable contribution to railway track life cycle extension, along with maintaining maximum speed within the context of traffic safety. The purpose of maintenance is to restore a railway line, i.e. railway track to its original quality optimum life cycle. By analyzing environment conditions, as well as the need to maintain railway line quality level, it is necessary to identify ingoing parameters for the maintenance strategy and basic activities which determine maintenance quality.
