Abstract

The tertiary reservoir identified by the formations of Jeribe, Anah, Azkand and Azkand/Ibrahim was studied from the point of view of reservoir characterization in Khabbaz Oil Field / Northern Iraq. The computer-processed log interpretation allows the study and evaluation of numerous types of logs, and the presentation of the results as depth functions in analysis graphical forms. For the khabbaz oil field, computer-processed analysis of geophysical logs was performed from three deep oil wells. The research used composite wire line logs consisting of gamma rays, resistivity, density, sonic, and neutron. The detected lithology's from porosity logs showed domination of limestone, dolomitic limestone, and dolomites in addition to few thin beds of anhydrites in Jeribe Formation and thin beds of sand dominated lithologies in Azkand Formation. The qualitative gamma ray log analysis showedClay content and the density sonic and neutron logs have been used for porosity determination. The results of the formation evaluation showed that average porosity, water saturation and shale content of the reservoirs range from 10 to 13 percent, 0.057 to0.073 and 0.141 to 0.228 respectively. The computed permeability ranges from 58.3 to 302.6
