Abstract
Reasonable application and adoption of agricultural technological innovation by the tech intensive Tea SMEs is really essential to uplift the efficiency, productivity and performance of such entities. This study was conducted in NuwaraEliya District of SriLanka to assess the awareness and knowledge levels of the Tech based Tea SME owners and the workershence assess the adoption/implementation levels and gapsof new technological innovation and the practices. The research study's results revealed that there is a 19.4 % of awareness gap and26.87 % of knowledge gap betweenowners and the workers of NuwaraEliya District's Tech-based Tea SMEs. The tech-innovation adoption gap is 57% where there is a 43% of technology adoption gap. Inference that there is an urgent need of thought for a appropriate technological innovation transfer strategy to enhance the awareness, knowledge and adoption levels of Tea TSME owners and the workers in order to exploit the real advantages of tech-innovation generated all around the world. Concerning on the various constraints faced by the present tech-innovation transfer strategy such as dearth of skillful staff, curtailment of funds and policy changes, there is an urgent need for fully pegged reasonable tech-innovation transfer strategy as to meet the booming tech-innovation needs of the gigantic Tech-based Tea SMEs sector in NuwaraEliya district of Sri Lanka.
