Abstract

This article represents a simple method for preparing and characterising of low cost ion exchangers of sulphonated carbon prepared from Tribulus Terrestris Linn., (Family– Zygophyllaceae) - as a source of cheap plant material blended with phenol-formaldehyde as a cross – linking agent. All the important physico-chemical, thermal and spectral properties of the ion exchangers have been determined. The synthesised resins having a cation exchange capacity upto 1.96 m.mol.g –1 .
