Abstract

The article is devoted to the process of actualization of theatrical signs – actemes in a discursive–semiotic space of theatrical communication. It examines two types of theatrical communication – simple and complicated by the large number of participants in the theatrical process. The article offers the concept of an acteme as the basic type of a sign in theatrical interaction and considers some kinds of actemes included in remarks, monologues and dialogues of a dramatic work. The research was done on linguistic and semiotic analysis as well as on discourse analysis. The study reveales several types of actemes: actemes of location as signs of denotation of the scene of the plot; actemes of actions as signs of various actions taking place on stage; actemes of processes as signs of conditions or processes; actemes of passivity, characterizing the state of the characters of the play; actemes of role specialty that give characteristics to characters; actemes-tumultives which are signs of audio; actemes - kanetisives – sound effects; actemes - luxives – light effects; actemes-referentives, i.e. signs that serve as referents of processes which go on simultaneously with stage action; actemes of self - reflection whose task is to transfer their own feelings and evaluations of their own actions which are broadcast to the audience; actemes-coactives which denote side actions of a tragic actor; actemes - directives as signs denoting the direction of an action or the question of the direction of an action. An important element of a theatrical action that develops the plot and makes it dynamic, is the sign of an instrumental quality. This quality is found in actemes-instrumentatives
