Abstract

COVID 19 being declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has created chaos as it has submerged the whole world. The world succumbs to this pandemic and everything comes to a still. Perhaps education is the only sector that doesn't shut down completely. All the level of education system from the school education to the higher education get effected by the novel corona virus. In this pandemic, technology came to the rescue and online learning is the only tool now. Since the past few years distance learning evolved as a new way of learning. Though, there is no way it can replace the traditional way of teaching, but it is best when it comes to reaching to the masses. It also caters the individual learning needs. Today's learner is native to mobile and internet which makes digital platform easily accessible. However, the transition from traditional teaching to the online teaching is a real challenge for many of the students and teachers. Because various factors such as strong internet connections, learning tools, technical skills, affordability and access to technology impact on the success of online teaching learning process. This paper is an attempt to study the impact of COVID 19 on education sector and the strategies taken by Government of India to minimizing the gap.
