Abstract
A gigantic number of people all over the world learn English once English is always a necessity for many people in many fields. However, there are many societies with majorities learning English as a foreign and second language. The increasing number of English learners has posed many effects on these societies as well as influenced the Turkish one, which we dedicated this paper to discuss in detail. This paper is based on a couple of issues which are, the feelings of Turkish people towards English and Turkish and the influence of learning English on the cultural identity of people in Turkey. However, this paper took place in Istanbul, Turkey. The data of this study were collected after filling in a questionnaire by a group of people (34 participants) who speak English with a B1 level at least. This investigation revealed that there is an influence of learning English on the life of Turkish people, their culture, and their identity.
