Calculation of the Risk of Malignancy Index in Diagnosing Malignant Ovarian Tumours

Background: Diagnosing ovarian malignancy in an abdomino-pelvic mass possesses great clinical dilemma at times. Risk of malignancy index using Jacobs score helps in diagnosing ovarian malignancy. Objectives: Screen those patients who are at high risk so that they are operated by gynaecological oncologist at the specialized centre; thus ensuring optimal primary surgery and better prognosis. Another objective was that the low risk groups can be carried by Laparoscopic procedures. Methods: Hundred patients suspected of ovarian tumours were evaluated using CA 125, ultrasonography of pelvis and abdomen and the age of presentation.
