Abstract

Assistance to qualified prenatal care aims at the health of the mother and child through measures that value the uniqueness of each woman, allowing comprehensive care without fragmentation of care. The study aims to identify how perceptions of pregnant women and postpartum women on the characteristics of their prenatal consultations. It is an integrative literature review, descriptive with a qualitative approach, carried out at the Virtual Health Library (VHL). The following descriptors were used: Prenatal care, knowledge and pregnant women, in line with the needs for inclusion. In the first stage, using the descriptors, 255 articles were not found in the VHL databases. After adding filters with the aforementioned inclusion criteria, a search resulted in 70 articles. After reading criteria in response to research problems and exclusion factors, return to a sample of 15 articles. The selected articles, nine selected in their results, can be accessed during a prenatal consultation. However, eight articles demonstrated that, as puerperal women or pregnant women, they receive information during the prenatal routine, some of which are already known to them. Thus, consider two relevant thematic axes: Health education during the gestational process and group of pregnant women: Benefits to contemplate information. Thus, a survey contributed to assess the perception of women about the resources of their prenatal consultations, or what made it possible to recognize the vulnerabilities of the care provided. Thus, observe the relevance of the training of health professionals, the actors in the role of educator for the implementation of efficient health promotion strategies.
