Abstract

The present study scrutinizes a number of Turkish newspapers published in Bulgaria between 1844 and 1944. The third volume of the work, which was compiled by Dimitır P. İvançev and published by Sofia Science and Art Publishing House in 1969 with the support of a team from the Bulgarian Bibliography Institute, represents the source of the study. In the compilation in question, Ivanchev discussed the newspapers published in foreign languages in Bulgaria. There are newspapers published in 20 different languages in Bulgaria on the specified dates. These are Albanian, English, Armenian, Banat Bulgarian, Волапюг, Greek, Hebrew, Esperanto Language, Ido Language, Italian, German, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, French, and Czech. In the aforementioned 100-year period, some 98 Turkish newspapers were published in Bulgaria. In the present study, the names of the 98 newspapers in question are introduced in alphabetical order depending on when, where and by whom they were published.
