Role of the theory of tourism in the system of professional competitive knowledge

The urgency of the topic of research is due to the comprehensive approach to the assessment of tourism as a theory of tourism. Today, tourism is becoming an interdisciplinary science with a clear specialization in the labor market, which influences the quality of tourism services provision. The aim of the study is to provide a comprehensive assessment of the formation and development of tourism in the system of professional competency knowledge. To obtain the results of the research, the following methods have been used: historical, analysis and synthesis, abstract-logical, predictive-analytical, and others. The historical origins of the formation of tourismology as a science; stages of the genesis and evolution of the doctrine of tourism have been considered in the article; tourism is considered as a multidirectional scientific field of tourism research; the system of principles of tourismology has been explored; the competent approach in the training of specialists in the sphere of tourism has been analyzed; the list of competencies in the field of tourism has been proposed. This made it possible to identify the main competencies important for practical tourism activities. That is why practical suggestions on the formation of conceptual foundations of the ability to form professional competency knowledge in the field of tourism have been given. The vast majority of authors focus on the terminology and conceptual apparatus of tourismology in the context of economic-geographical, pedagogical, jurisprudence and philosophical research. However, it is considered expedient to analyze and systematize the most important definitions in the system of tourism knowledge, to compare it with foreign analogs, to generalize. Further research requires a competent approach to management in the field of tourism.
