Abstract

Disputes between Türkiye and Greece have manifested in the Aegean Sea continental shelf, the island of Cyprus and the Turks in Western Thrace, the Aegean islands, and, most recently, the Eastern Mediterranean issue. These are considered long-standing issues that have been the subject of lobbying efforts. The Eastern Mediterranean issue has started to become a more visible one compared to others. The reason why it is more visible than others is that there are many other actors involved in the issue, together with Türkiye and Greece. As this issue is more global than ever, lobbying in that particular one seems more vital than ever. This compilation study, which focuses on anti-Turkish propaganda of the Greek lobby in the Eastern Mediterranean issue, within the framework of lobbying activities, aims to contribute to the field. It also aims to explain how the Eastern Mediterranean issue became a regional and global issue. In conclusion, it can be said that the Eastern Mediterranean issue has gained multidimensional and strategic importance both for Türkiye, the Eastern Mediterranean coastal states and global actors in recent years. For this reason, it has become a new ground for Greece to increase its lobbying activities against Türkiye, especially in the USA. In the Eastern Mediterranean issue, it is observed that the USA and European countries ignore international law to the extent that they disrupt relations with their ally, Türkiye. The study claims that one of the reasons for this unfair attitude is the effect of lobbies that have an anti-Democratic attitude against Türkiye.
