Konferans Diplomasisi Perspektifinde Antalya Diplomasi Forumu'nun Uluslararası İlişkilerdeki Rolü /The Role of Antalya Diplomacy Forum in International Relations from the Perspective of Conference Diplomacy

Today, it is possible to list the diplomacy efforts that are frequently used in the discipline of International Relations as follows: summit diplomacy, bilateral diplomacy, multilateral/multidimensional diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, parliamentary diplomacy, conference diplomacy, sports diplomacy, environmental diplomacy, defence diplomacy, public diplomacy, health diplomacy, digital diplomacy, shuttle diplomacy, economic diplomacy, energy diplomacy and education diplomacy. In this context, the article discusses the public diplomacy dimension of conference diplomacy, one of the afore-mentioned diplomacy efforts, as a soft power element. The importance of this type of diplomacy lies in its frequent use between the two world wars. Although the use of this type of diplomacy has decreased in frequency since the end of the World Wars, it is still more prevalent in problematic regions such as the Balkans, South Asia, and the Middle East. On the other hand, in conference diplomacy, which was frequently employed by major powers during the world wars, the powerful states generally obtained gains that were in line with their interests. In this study, it was sought to determine whether the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF)serves as an example of conference diplomacy in International Relations. In the first section of the study, the role and significance of conference diplomacy within the context of public diplomacy are discussed. Then, examples of conference diplomacy in the world have been examined within the framework of International Relations as a discipline. Following that, an explanation has been given about the position of ADF in this discipline, which the Republic of Türkiye brought to the international relations discipline as an example of conference diplomacy, and in the conclusion, an evaluation of the role of this Forum has been given
