«Works of the Chernigiv Provincial Scientific Archival Commission» as a Source Base of Studying the History of the Chernigiv Region

The aim of the work – on the basis of published and archival documents to analyze the certain aspects of activities of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission, specially its publishing activity through the «Proceedings of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission» printed editions. Research methodology. The tasks were solved using a set of general complementary scientifi c methods, including: system; historical, which made it possible to study the dynamics of the processes of creation and development of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission; comparative, which was used to determine certain aspects of the responsibilities of the newly created provincial archival commissions, etc. The scientifi c novelty of the study: an analysis of the activities of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission as a historical and scientifi c-cultural center in the Chernihiv region of the late XIX century was made; the content of the printed editions of «Proceedings of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission» was analyzed; the main functions of the Commission for the collection and storage of archival documents and historical exhibits, mostly by individual local historians, as well as semi-amateur organizations, centers of local progressive socio-political forces were outlined; were introduced into scientifi c circulation some documents, drawings, published in the «Proceedings» of the Commission. Conclusion. Each issue of the «Proceedings of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission» is an important source for studying the activities of the Commission and contributing to work of its individual members and members of the public of Chernihiv region. The prospect of further research is to publish and further update certain documents and publications on the history of the Chernihiv Provincial Scientifi c Archival Commission. Introduced into scientifi c circulation, they will serve as an important material for various scientifi c and publishing kits and research.
