Abstract

Introduction. One important component of the cultural space is contemporary song discourse, which, on the one hand, reacts quickly to social and political changes in society and is a means of reflecting reality, and on the other hand, has a great influence on the formation of thinking, cultural and ethical preferences of native speakers, their general and speech culture in particular. Purpose. The article aims to investigate the violations of linguistic norms in modern song discourse and to clarify their influence on the outlook and speech culture of teenagers; to develop exercises and tasks on the texts of modern songs to develop the culture of speech. Methods. The following methods were used in the study: analysis of linguistic sources to ascertain the state of development of the problem; descriptive method, combining observation, interpretation, and generalisation of linguistic material; component analysis to identify the semantics of words of lexical- semantic groups; empirical methods: a questionnaire survey of high school students. Results. It has been established that song discourse is a special kind of creolised text, a product, and mediator of socially and culturally determined communication. It is characterised by specific functions and attributes. In the course of the study, the following were recorded: youth and criminal slang, common language, swear words and vulgarisms, russianisms, and anglicisms. Among the violations of morphological norms, were found the improper use of nouns in the form of appeals, errors in determining the gender of nouns and their conjugation, formation of forms of the higher degree of comparison of adjectives, the improper use of verb forms and the preposition according to. To develop a culture of speech among students, exercises and tasks developed based on the texts of modern songs are offered. Originality. The paper presents a comprehensive study of modern song discourse anormativity; in particular, non-normative word combinations have been analysed, focusing on the functional load of abnormative units. The information about the deviations from the linguistic norms, which are manifested in the song texts of the beginning of the XXI century, has been deepened. The idea of negative linguistic tendencies of modern popular songs caused by the influence of the cultural and linguistic situation in Ukraine has been expanded. The developed exercises and tasks on the material of song texts will be useful for teachers of words and phrases to popularize Ukrainian culture and form the culture of speech of students. Conclusion. The errors recorded in contemporary song discourse at the phonetic, lexical, and morphological levels are linguotoxic elements. The danger of these linguistic abuses is that they have invaded television, radio, and the Internet, leading to a massive increase in illiteracy, especially among young people, because the state of linguistic culture is primarily reflected by mass communication, among which the song is one of the most fluid genres of mass culture. The modern song text shapes the cultural and linguistic space, negatively influencing the language culture of the future and the cultural and moral orientations of the addressees.
